I first met Robin and Melissa while I was photographing the welcome table at Lisa and Angel’s wedding. They were so bubbly and happy when I met them; therefore I was thrilled when Lisa referred them to me to be their wedding photographer.
Robin and Melissa first met in Santa Cruz, California in the Capitola mall. This was in 2005 when Robin was 18 and Melissa was 17. Robin worked at No Fear and Melissa worked in the Disney Store. One of Robin's friends and then co-workers introduced her to Melissa. That night they went to a midnight movie and saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail. From there they became friends. In 2008 Robin moved to San Diego to live with Melissa and some friends. Their friendship continued to get closer until they realized they had feelings that were more than friendship and started dating.
In August 2015, Robin proposed to Melissa in their house privately. Robin bought two-dozen roses. The first dozen she cut up petals and scattered them throughout the house. The second dozen she attached pictures of their relationship starting from their friendship to their budding relationship. She laid the flowers in a timeline to the room; and placed candles through out the house. In the room she put rose petals and pictures on the bed and played the City and Colour song "We found each other in the dark." When Melissa came in the house she was led into the room by the pictures and Robin explained what Melissa had meant to her and how much she loved her; and then Robin got on one knee and proposed. Melissa most definitely said YES!
Robin and Melissa are truly perfect together. I just love watching them as a couple. They make one another shine when they walk in the room. Melissa has a permanent glow to her, she makes everyone smile, especially Robin. Robin loves to make Melissa happy and I could tell that during the entire wedding process. She told me all the ideas Melissa had for her wedding day, and it was our goal to make it perfect for her.
Robin and Melissa chose to have their afternoon engagement session at Pirate Tower in Laguna Beach, which you have to be able to cross a good path of rocks, which may or may not be wet from the high tide. Normally this was be no issue for this photographer, but this time was different, at that is I was 35 weeks pregnant with my first child. Luckily for extra support my sweet husband joined me to help me across the rocks. All I can say is it was worth it! It was the prefect day with beautiful weather and a very happy couple.
